The Teaching with Canvas Short Course is a newer offering at the Office of Teaching and Learning designed by the Faculty Developer of Online Learning, Lexi Schlosser. The short course contains readings, assignments, and multimedia to help participants learn how to design and facilitate courses using Canvas effectively. The course takes place on Canvas, DU’s primary learning management system (LMS), so that participants can experience the structure of a course as a student. All classes, even if there is a face-to-face component, will require a robust online presence, and the resources and tools in this course will help with the creation of those components. This course requires a base-line knowledge of Canvas and will offer advanced skills and strategies for faculty interested in taking their teaching to the next level. If you are brand-new to using Canvas, we encourage you to sign up for a Canvas Coaching session or one-on-one consultation to consider if this course is the right fit for you.
You should plan to dedicate about 3-5 hours per week to this online course. The amount of time necessary varies based on individual learning needs and comfort level with technology. You can go through the modules at your own pace throughout each week. The course will run from January 10th and end on January 31st.
If you have any questions about the course, please email Lexi.Schlosser@du.edu.
